The Neighborhood Church on Stafford Road

  • The Neighborhood Church 21065 Southwest Stafford Road Tualatin, OR, 97062 United States (map)

Every place you go has a vibe or a specific feel about it. Go to a Blazers game and the energy is electric. Walk into a coffee shop and the mood is often warm, but subdued. Some car dealerships are high pressure, and others are low-key and low pressure. Every place on the planet has a vibe about it, even your own home. The same can be true about any church you choose to enter.

The question that comes to mind when most people enter a church is… does this place have a vibe or feeling about it that I want to be a part of? While our church is not perfect (nor are any of our people), we want to maintain a feeling about our gatherings and our people that others will ultimately want to be a part of. In an attempt to accomplish this, we continually encourage our people to live well in the following four areas. We call this our VIBE.

Value Others

Follow Christ’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. – Ephesians 5:1-2

Inspire Worship

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. – Psalm 4:1-3

Biblical Application

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. – James 1:22-25

Enjoy Life

As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!" 41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "You are worried and upset about many things, 42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." – Luke 10:38-42
